Wow,
was Portland an eye opening
experience! Grand Lodge is like nothing I have ever experienced. Now I
know why B.P .O.E. stands for The Best People on Earth. Awards were given
to youth for Hoop Shoot and ENF Scholarships. These future leaders gave
speeches most of us could never have put together. Totally amazing!
The new Grand Exalted Ruler James Nichelson's motto is "Elk's Make a
Difference". The motto I chose for our Lodge this year is "You
Can Make a Difference", I guess great minds
think alike.
Central District stuck together with our
DD, Scott Kovach from Stevens Point.
We ER's are now known as the Fab5. ER's bond in a district, I never
thought it would be this tight. While we were in meeting, Carl and the
girls would spend the day exploring. We had many locals thank us for
coming and boosting their economy. Carl and I also got the chance to
visit a few Lodges. I am bringing back a lot of ideas that work for them
that may add some spice to our Lodge. Are you ready? I can't wait.
I would like to thank PER Dick Westcott and
Tom Barden for a job well done with the Spring
Golf Outing and I thank them in advance for already getting ready for the
Fall Golf Outing in September. I would also like to thank PER Mike Rebhahn for a lot of little projects he has been
working on which include weed control in our patio area and building a
new "Secretaries Box" for Garry. Art Schilling has once again
helped with our plumbing issues, and of course Scott Ziebell
is always quick to respond when asked, the latest venture was to drill a
hole to hang a wire in the ballroom, this may sound easy but it took a
very long drill and a lot of work to get the right bolt to hold that wire
in front of the stage. A special Thank You to Dawn Herbst for the beautiful job on the Grand Ballroom
and for her financial donation towards the project.
Summer is almost over, and where did the
time go? Use your Lodge for Fish Fry Fridays, Family Nights, and of
course social hour. The bowling season may be over, but those lanes are
waiting for someone to come in and start up a few games.
We have Initiation Aug. 20th,
this will be the first one for your new Officers. Please join us and lend
your moral support while renewing your Obligation along with the new
members.
Halloween is coming up fast. DDGER Scott
Kovach will be there and you won't want to miss whatever it is he will
come up for a costume. The man is full of surprises!
